meow

lightbulb is Happiness.

it pulsated and
seemed to grow in speed :

two noises in the room
the fly
buzzing and
the fly
relentlessly hitting the lightbulb.

this is maddening.

"Yes, it is" said the dresser.

stupid fly
Absurd—
just hitting and
hitting and
hitting

then.

that stupid fly stopped sounding

where are you?

then.

"Here i am" he buzzed and
hit faster and faster and faster
having learnt nothing.

The food here is terrible

Planes of an apple tree: a conclusion

and on the seventh day, She rested.

I will say this project is done,
not so much based on the results, but my desire to continue.

I have created thee, now Grow . . .

A room with a view

Moving is a bittersweet transition . . . even when your window faces a brick wall.
As I gather the last of my portable attachments,
a romantic recollection of my most recent refuge [alliteration!!]

Inca bebe: an invitation

created for one friend [Edith] in collaboration with another [Erin]

Desire:
Mom is proud of her Inca ancestry, and inspired by belly henna.
She also likes the color teal.

Issue:

The blunt geometry of Inca design doesn’t exactly lend itself to the delicate henna aesthetic . . . leaving little in common besides their use of repetition and symbolic patterns.

Solution:

Integrating these concepts tested more than my illustration skills . . .
I liked the idea of a peacock [often found in henna design, a bird which the Inca likely knew nothing of]. It has since ancient times represented beauty and renewal [birds in general being messengers between Earth and a higher plane]. I stylized using Inca principles, with a Chakana [Inca tree of life] in the womb. The tail houses a poem chosen by the expecting mother.

Erin swooped in and saved the day with some lovely type and color treatments, softening up the harsh edges of the existing design – and bringing it all together.

Melody medley: finito?

+ 1 canvas(3 watercolors)
+ 1 grimy sheet of music(impulse to pick things off the ground)
+ 7 quilter's pins
+ 1 blue string
+ 1 sunshiny day
+ desire to combine
this:

happy accidents

once String got involved, the arrangement of pins formed a charming constellation,
which parallels (and supports) its toppling musical counterpart —
the juxtaposition complements this "cosmic harmony". . . which i like

+ some little ditties composed with my camera:

Watercolor: a continuation

What better to do with an abundance of embroidery hoops
than introduce them to a previous exploration?

2 polarities: Chaos, meet Structure.

How do you do?

I drew a bit of all of us in him

the man on the train
regarding no thing in particular
but with a melancholy air

and noticing he couldn't see me — or didn't
i sketched him

beneath a heavy brow, which he couldn't fully know
some light.

Limed: fermented, not forgotten

I had a couple of aesthetic experiences with limes recently,
the first having spent a good amount of time in a fridge, the second in Sangria.
